7th Rugby (Bilton) Scout Group has a meeting place next to Alwyn Road Recreation Ground in Bilton, Rugby. The group is home to over 120 members between the ages of 6 and 18 in Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts. We are a busy, active and outdoor group. Our sections provide young people with over 40 nights away from home, plenty of day trips and some great activities during meeting nights each year. If you don’t believe me, why not give it a try!
Over the summer we have had our new roof installed over the HQ. It looks fantastic and will keep the rain out and the heat in for many years to come. Lots of effort was put in by a great many people to fundraise and secure grants to see this come about. On behalf of the group, I offer a big thank you to all that helped. Looking forwards, the new roof was the first project in a series of projects to modernise the facilities at 7th Rugby. The efforts must continue if we are ever to see the planned perimeter security fence, modernised toilets, kitchen, storage and meeting rooms.
To help with the workload we have a new Executive Committee in place, with parental representation from each meeting night. This will be headed up by Kevin Dickens our Group Chairman. Alongside the Group Executive we have a separate team identified specifically to look after planning and fundraising for the HQ re-development. If you are a builder, chippie, plumber or electrician, and would be willing to help 7th Rugby with our plans please get in touch. On the fundraising side, if you have any good contacts that could help us, or perhaps you are an employee within a big company – if so there are typically grants that can be secured that you could help us with. Please get in touch.
Peter Waddington and Dennis Perry provide a critical service for 7th Rugby; between them they look after the ongoing maintenance of the HQ and surrounding land. There is a lot to do; from light tube replacement to grass cutting and strimming, someone has to do it and Peter and Dennis would really appreciate some additional help. Get in touch if you can help.
